The Inspired Community Project, Inc.

We are a center-based early intervention and training certification program where we will support those in the community to become certified Registered Behavior Technicians. They can then provide early intervention services to the children of the community that are currently not receiving services, due to a shortage of trained professionals. Instead of trying to attract professionals from other neighborhoods, boroughs and communities we want to provide the opportunity and support to empower those in the community we serve. The Bronx currently has the highest rate of early intervention referrals but the lowest participation due to the lack of certified professionals willing to travel to the Bronx. The center will be a self-sustaining, paid, training site where staff will receive high-quality, hands-on, paid, training that will lead to a certification that will create career opportunities for those who would have otherwise. Those staff will be providing early intervention therapies to the children of the community that are referred for applied behavior analysis services in group settings. Lastly, we will be providing family advocacy coaching so that the caretakers are able to access the resources and support that other communities are readily given access to. We believe that empowering the community and providing the resources will create not only more informed families but more professionals that will enrich future generations, starting with the most vulnerable. Education is a human right and we want to bring equity to the special education community.
